There is a disconnect between data availability and business agility. Businesses struggle to turn data into insights and then translate that into action.
Data pipelines that have evolved over the last decade fall short of the agility, flexibility, and intuitiveness needed for modern businesses. They have to manually extract, prepare, and clean data to move it to the cloud, a process that is time-consuming and complicated.
Cloud platforms can be difficult to use for post-migration data analysis. Some require intense specialization to gain insights. Data teams need rapid ingestion, transformation, and analysis capabilities to meet business needs.
Partnership between ThoughtSpot and Matillion
Today, data teams working in the cloud can get real-time insights in minutes, according to ThoughtSpot and Matillion, who just announced a collaborative partnership focused on these issues.
Matillion’s cloud data integration technology provides data model templates to help organizations navigate their data efficiently. SpotApps, ThoughtSpot’s pre-built solutions designed for specific scenarios, can now leverage Matillion’s data processing technology. The companies believe the combination will reduce time-to-value and allow more individuals access to data across the enterprise.
Matillion and ThoughtSpot say their partnership can help data engineers focus on more complex data projects by reducing the time it takes to build data pipelines and launch new analytics scenarios. This can then help business users access data more easily and help data engineers focus on more complex data projects.
Matillion’s ELT templates – based on no-code/low-code technology – extract, migrate and transform data from a range of data sources into a cloud-native pipeline platform. Then, with ThoughtSpot, users can analyze the data through search and artificial intelligence.
How it works
When the data is transferred to the cloud, Matillion can quickly prepare it for analysis. With ThoughtSpot, SpotApps can be set up to run with new Live Analytics use cases as the data becomes available.
The spreadsheets, tables, and liveboards available in ThoughtSpot Modeling Language (TML) enable users to get started with popular SaaS applications like ServiceNow, HubSpot, Okta, Google Analytics, and more.
“Before building our modern data stack with Matillion, Snowflake and ThoughtSpot, Sargento spent an inordinate amount of time on data preparation and manual reporting in Excel. Our goal was to find a best-in-class cloud-first analytics solution to get the most business value out of the massive amounts of data we had in front of us,” said Travis Lehn, Senior Manager of Data & Analytics at Sargento Foods, Inc. “After a rigorous selection process, we ultimately selected a stack that scales analytics across our organization and provides self-service capabilities to our diverse user base.”
“Today’s modern data teams must manage the maintenance, migration and preparation of data to perform analytics. Low-code and no-code templates reduce time to insights,” said Naggi Asmar, Matillion’s chief engineering officer. “Now, data teams can focus on innovating to leverage data for advanced use cases and drive business, rather than having access to data in the data warehouse.”
