The PlayStation 5 has now reached the 20 million sales milestone, according to a new report. There are also plans to increase production to reach the next milestones even faster.
The report comes from GamesIndustry.biz and quotes Veronica Rogers, Head of Global Sales and Business Operations at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Rogers says the console has surpassed the mark, having sold more than 20 million units at the time of writing.
Given how hard they were to get hold of, I was shocked to hear the company has been making so many PS5s. According to industry analyst Daniel Ahmadthe supply chain issues that have made it so hard to get to the console are why it lags behind the PS4 on a comparable timeline.
According to Rogers, the company is working to resolve the issues in order to produce more consoles: “Fans who haven’t gotten their hands on a console should know that we’re planning a significant increase in PS5 production this year and we’re working tirelessly working to ensure PlayStation 5 is available to anyone who wants one.”
